MFA Thesis Exhibition
At the end of each spring term, Pratt Institute hosts an exhibition honoring the thesis work created by its graduating MFA candidates. The 2016 exhibition, entitled (Within)—Between., borrows from the graphic language of punctuation marks to highlight the relationships within and between students’ various research topics.
Katie Wylie’s exhibition installation features a family of five vessels that progress in a sequence evocative of growth. Built with chicken wire armatures covered in laser cut felt and epoxy, the vessels combine a complex skin effect with a highly simplified, effortless overall form. In darkness, small lights positioned in front of each vessel cast eerily beautiful shadows.
